Writing a Card
Program Update:
Our General Card Writing Program will be ending on May 17, 2026. If you would like to send general cards to our mailing address, please do so before this date.
After May 17, we invite you to continue writing cards through our Senior Nomination Program. Writing to a specific senior allows your card to be more personal, thoughtful, and meaningful.
Note: If you are part of a company looking to volunteer (either independently or part of a group), you will still be able to do so. Please contact our External Relation Director, Areej El-Sharif, using your work email for more information.

Our Guidelines
Before writing your cards, here are some guidelines:
1.
Your message must be handwritten.
2.
Please write at least 3 sentences, with an average of 15-20 words per sentence.
3.
Do not include the date. This includes mentioning the season, month and/or year. Exception 1: Cards sent through our Senior Nomination Program.
Exception 2: Winter holiday (Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.) cards - you can mention the season, but not the date (month, year, etc.).
4.
Write legibly and in large print.
5.
Make your message kind and thoughtful, and do not mention COVID-19. Cards written with offensive or inappropriate content will not be accepted.
6.
Do not include any loose glitter, confetti or snacks.
7.
Do not write "get well soon", "my condolences" or anything similar anywhere in the card. Language that is condescending, such as mentioning that a senior is nearing the end of their life, is not permitted.
8.
Do not address the card to a specific person. Exception: Cards sent through our Senior Nomination Program.
9.
If you are sending more than one card, please send them in one large envelope or box.
10.
Avoid mentioning religion.
11.
Do not include your last name.
12.
Each card should be folded (not a postcard format) and at least 4x5 inches in size.
13.
Do not include individual envelopes for each card (Not applicable for cards sent through our Senior Nomination Program).
14.
Send as many cards as you like. There is no limit! Be creative and have fun!
