Marissa Parker, Tracy Wu, Kaitlyn Liang, and Emily Crowe are all high school friends from Mississauga, ON, who started Sending Sunshine in 2020. Sending Sunshine is a not-for-profit corporation that collects and distributes cards to seniors both living in the community and residing in care facilities across Canada. The group was inspired to start Sending Sunshine when they noticed that senior citizens, a group already vulnerable to depression and loneliness, were hit especially hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, both physically and mentally.
