What is a Sending Sunshine Chapter?
Chapters are local branches of our charity that bring our mission directly into communities. Led by passionate volunteers, Chapters serve as hubs where people come together to create and deliver handwritten cards to seniors experiencing isolation and loneliness. They are independently run by their Chapter Leaders, who guide all activities while following Sending Sunshine’s established guidelines and standards.
Chapters are often based in schools or the wider community, offering individuals a meaningful way to build leadership skills while making a tangible difference. Through simple acts of kindness, volunteers help brighten someone’s day and reduce the effects of loneliness among seniors.
Whether it’s a group of friends, classmates, or an individual, anyone can get involved by joining or starting a Chapter. Volunteers work together to write thoughtful, uplifting messages that remind seniors they are seen, valued, and not alone.
