Sending Sunshine’s Senior Nomination Program allows anyone to nominate a senior they know to receive cards from people around the world!
Each month our team will review the nominations and choose some to include on our website.
Then, anyone from around the world can read about each nominated senior and send a card to one or more of their choice.
The cards are sent to the nominator's address, who will collect the cards and deliver them to the senior they nominated!

October 31st, 2026. We post new seniors who want cards from you at the beginning of each month.

A message from Zubeda’s granddaughter: Zubeda is my sweet 87 year old south african grandmother who married and immigrated to Canada at just 19 years old. She loves turning strangers into friends and enjoys celebrating friends and family over homemade meals and gifts. She would absolutely appreciate a card written especially for herself as she’s growing older and experiences less out of life each day. A card would be a great opportunity for her to experience something new and thoughtful. Some hobbies of hers include knitting, cooking, baking, and spending time with nature.

A message from Ali’s granddaughter: Akbar is a retired art teacher from Pakistan where he taught for 35 years. He is 84 years old and retired at the age of 60. He lives with his sons in Canada however he misses home a lot and some cards would really help cheer him up. His wife also passed away recently and he has been really lonely as of late. He loves gardening which is what he does most of the time and he loves playing with kids. He has 6 grandchildren and likes to take them to the park. He also really loves cats and flowers. He is a really sweet and caring grandpa and I know these cards would make his day.

Volunteer With Us!
Did you know you can brighten someone's day and gain volunteer hours from the comfort of your own home through our Senior Nomination Program? Here's how:

Read about this month's nominated seniors and decide which one(s) you want to send a card to.

Write an uplifting message in the card and personalize it for the senior you have chosen. Be creative and tell them about yourself!
Please keep in mind that you can only write 1 card per senior!

Fill out our Volunteer Google Form to obtain your hours for the month. You should only submit the form once per month, even if you send multiple cards each month.

Seal the card in an envelope, write the applicable address, and include the correct postage/stamp. Please remember that the stamp needed may be different based on which country the senior lives in.

If you are sending your cards in a big envelope with your school chapter/club, please have your club leader email the following to nominations@sendingsunshine.ca:

Students will still have to fill out the Google Form to receive volunteer hours.
